Night sweat - …?
July 9, 2008
Night sweatS? Night sweatING? Which is it? I cannot tell. One of the most common B-symptoms of Hodgkin’s is the night sweats. I had them bad, up until my first chemo treatment, which was actually part in helping for my diagnosis. Since they switched me from the A_VD to the MOPP, they have been increasing again. I hadn’t had one from May 6, til the weekend after June 1. To my onc this was an indication that the Hodge was under control. Slowly but surely, I have been waking up sweaty, but not convinced they were full-fledged night sweats. Thought I might just be getting hot and getting a little sweaty, it is summertime, afterall. Then I realize that I have been sleeping with the A/C on like 65 everynight, and I really shouldn’t be hot and sweaty at all, no matter the case for the sweating.
And then tonight. I have made it to the restroom throughout the night twice, and lost 4 pounds - most likely due to the sweating. (Refer to my last blog post “T - Minus 3 Days” for more background info on that). So, is the Hodge back in control and I am having night sweats again? Or am I getting hot in this cold apartment bedroom and sweating out my excess fluid - seeing as how I gained 7 pounds just yesterday from fluid retention from my prednisone?
I don’t know what to think, and this is making the nights seem longer as I lay in worry, and wake up each night having to change my shirt, because it is wet. I don’t know what to do aside from worry, and I thought those day were well over.
